Snooker Live Version 9 Release Notes

Last updated: 19 May 2026

Release Status

Version 9 (9.0.0) is currently pending release. There is no confirmed release date yet because the update is still in testing. The planned release window is sometime early in the 2026/2027 season.

These notes describe the planned Version 9 update as it stands during testing. Some features may be refined, renamed, expanded or adjusted before release.

Overview

Version 9 is the biggest Snooker Live update so far. It rebuilds the app around richer match detail, smarter predictions, more useful alerts, stronger privacy controls, better accessibility and a cleaner modern experience across iPhone, Apple Watch-style system surfaces, the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

The goal is simple: help snooker fans understand what is happening, what might happen next and how to follow the matches, players and events that matter to them.

What's New

Match Vision

Match Vision has been rebuilt with a new prediction system designed to make match pages more useful before, during and after play.

  • New Match Vision prediction system for supported matches.
  • Live predictions when a match is underway, where available.
  • Original pre-match predictions remain available where supported.
  • Predicted scorelines and confidence levels where available.
  • Event winner predictions where available.
  • Short AI-assisted match summaries designed to explain the key information quickly.
  • Vision Performance so users can see how the prediction system has performed over time.

Predictions are for entertainment and information only. They should not be used for betting, gambling or financial decisions.

Richer Match Detail

Match pages now give users more context around the match itself, not just the score.

  • Snooker Live Rating for supported players.
  • Player form and head-to-head insights.
  • Route to Match showing how players reached the current match, where available.
  • Bracket-style path information so users can see who may play who and how the draw is shaping up, where available.
  • Frame scores where available.
  • Session information and next-session detail where available.
  • Better live, finished and between-session match states.
  • Player links from structured player references inside the extended match view.
  • Cleaner segmented sections for match information, Match Vision and head-to-head detail.

Data-dependent features may vary by tournament, round, match coverage and data availability.

Season Events And Calendar

The Events area has been redesigned to make the season easier to browse.

  • New season events view.
  • Improved calendar view.
  • Better event cards with key event information.
  • Live event positioning so active events are easier to find.
  • Event winner and previous winner information where available.
  • Watch links where available.
  • Apple Calendar season sync so users can add event dates to their calendar.
  • Settings control for the preferred Events start page.

Notifications And Live Activities

Version 9 adds a much more flexible alert system.

  • 50+ notification options across match, score, player, event and news alerts.
  • Match alerts for starts, resumptions, results, reschedules, table changes, walkovers and more.
  • Score alerts for frame updates, lead changes, deciding frames, comeback alerts and other key moments.
  • Player alerts for followed-player activity.
  • Event alerts for followed-event updates.
  • SnookerHQ news notifications for optional snooker news updates.
  • Notification choices are managed from the relevant match, player, event or settings screen.

Live Activities can now be chosen ahead of time. They do not need to be started only when a match is already live. When supported, the Live Activity can appear on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island around 5 minutes before the match starts or resumes, then update as play continues.

Notification delivery and Live Activity updates depend on Apple services, device settings, network conditions and FrameWatcher availability, so they cannot be guaranteed.

SnookerHQ News

Version 9 adds optional SnookerHQ news notifications.

  • Users can opt in during onboarding or later in Settings.
  • News alerts are optional and can be turned off.
  • News notifications open the relevant SnookerHQ article.
  • SnookerHQ branding is included where appropriate.

Community Board

The old report flow has been replaced with a more useful Community area.

  • Report issues with free text instead of choosing from a fixed list.
  • Request features directly from the app.
  • View public feature requests and reported issues.
  • Vote on community items.
  • Report inappropriate community content.
  • Delete your own community posts.
  • Public author IDs use an anonymous SnookerLive number instead of personal names.
  • Client-side Vision review helps check submissions before they are sent, with server-side moderation still in place.

Community features are designed to help users report problems, suggest improvements and see what is being looked at.

Privacy, GDPR And User Control

Version 9 adds clearer privacy and data controls.

  • Privacy & Data section in Settings.
  • View My Data for data tied to the current installation ID.
  • Delete My Data for FrameWatcher data tied to the current installation ID.
  • Anonymous installation ID instead of a user account.
  • ICO registration reference shown in the app: ZC103724.
  • Clear explanation of what is held on the server, what is held on the device and what is controlled by Apple.
  • Updated Privacy Policy.
  • Updated Terms and Conditions.
  • New End User Licence Agreement.

Snooker Live is designed to collect as little as possible. It does not require a name, email address, account password, Apple ID, postal address or phone number to use the app.

Cue Club

Cue Club remains the subscription that supports premium Snooker Live features.

Premium features include supported Match Vision predictions, live predictions, Snooker Live Rating, frame scores, Route to Match, premium notification tools and Live Activities.

Original paid users keep access according to the current app rules. Version 9 also adds a respectful support prompt for original paid users who still have full access but may want to support future development through Cue Club.

App Store subscriptions, renewals, cancellations and refunds are managed by Apple.

App Design And Accessibility

Version 9 includes a broad design and accessibility pass across the app.

  • Redesigned onboarding.
  • Redesigned Cue Club paywall.
  • Dark mode support.
  • Better colour contrast and adaptive backgrounds.
  • VoiceOver improvements.
  • Dynamic Type and large accessibility text improvements.
  • Large Content Viewer support where appropriate.
  • More consistent button states and accessibility labels.
  • Cleaner empty states and loading states.
  • Better support for users who need larger text or reduced motion.

The normal layout is preserved where possible, while accessibility-size layouts become simpler, clearer and easier to use.

Data Layer And Reliability

Version 9 moves the app onto the newer FrameWatcher-powered data layer.

  • Faster view-focused data loading.
  • Cleaner app models.
  • Better handling of empty seasons, missing rankings, no matches and incomplete tournament data.
  • Improved country-code flag handling.
  • Improved launch screen and app appearance.
  • Improved tests for app logic, mapping, notifications, Live Activities, community, privacy and UI smoke coverage.

The app has been heavily simplified internally so future updates should be easier to maintain.

Notes While Testing

Version 9 is still being tested. Some screens, wording, data coverage and premium feature behaviour may be adjusted before release.

Some features depend on tournament coverage, data-provider availability, FrameWatcher support and Apple system services. Where data is unavailable, the app should show a clear empty state rather than breaking or showing misleading information.

Planned Release Window

Version 9 (9.0.0) has no confirmed release date yet. The planned release window is sometime early in the 2026/2027 season.
